Resident Assistant
Summary/Objective:
School of Philadelphia Ballet's (SPB) Summer Intensive Program in
Philadelphia, PA is a residential ballet intensive for dancers ages
12-21. The program is five weeks in duration from June 22 through
July 26, 2025, and serves students from across the country. The
Resident Assistants will collaborate with the Resident Manager and
Resident Coordinator to assist in overseeing approximately 65
dancers aged 12-21 residing at Drexel University and dancing at the
Philadelphia Ballet studios and local venues. Resident Assistants
are required to reside in the dormitory for the full length of the
program. Candidates must be 21 years of age or older.
RA Start Date: Thursday, June 19, 2025
RA End Date: Sunday, July 27, 2025 (off contract on July 28)
Essential Functions:
--- Directly supervising participants during the program duration
including their stay in the dormitory, during mealtimes and while
at SPB
--- Escorting the participants between dorm SPB, and alternate
studio spaces as scheduled by the Resident Manager
--- Supervisory responsibilities on a rotating schedule:
o Supervise the resident sign-in and sign-out process at the dorm
between dinner and curfew
o Supervise weekend outings for commuters and residents including
travel to and from excursions
o Complete curfew check by visiting each dorm room on the assigned
floor
o Alternate Space Duty - Walk program participants to and from
secondary location of classes
o Lunch Duty - Supervise lunch break for commuters and
residents
o On Call - Responsible for overnight issues and/or emergencies if
needed
--- Ensuring the safety of participants while at the dorm, SPB,
alternate studio space, and during outings
--- Enforcing rules, regulations, and policies of SPB, dorm, and
alternate studio space
--- Enforcing weekly dorm deep-cleaning and encouraging general
tidiness
--- Assisting with check-in and check-out of participants at the
beginning and the end of the program including escorting to and
from Philadelphia International Airport if needed
--- Planning and executing one (1) group activity for resident
dancers during the 5-week intensive
--- Reporting any illnesses, accidents, or behavior issues to the
Resident Manager
--- Reporting any cases of lost, damaged, or stolen property to the
Resident Manager
--- Disseminating information and announcements to participants
during floor meetings as scheduled by the Resident Manager
--- Attending weekly Resident Staff meetings as scheduled by the
Resident Manager
--- Other duties and administrative tasks as assigned by the
Resident Manager and/or the School of Philadelphia Ballet Staff
Required Education & Experience:
--- High School diploma or equivalent.
--- Previous experience working with students in a Camp or
educational, mentorship, or residential setting preferred.
--- Knowledge of classical ballet is a plus
