Job descriptionHoly Family Home (Little Sisters of the Poor) is
a Long-Term Care facility that is dedicated to caring for the
elders. Holy Family Home provides our residents with high quality

and friendly place to work.Holy Family Home is looking for an
amazing full time Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Control
Nurse (RN) to join our family team to work full time.Position
requires you to be Covid-19 vaccinated, and flu vaccinated.The
Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Control Nurse (RN) is
responsible for responsible for staff training, including planning
overall orientation and ongoing education and in-service programs
to all staff for the development of skills so as to provide for
quality of care. The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for
maintaining an infection prevention and control program designed to
provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment and to help
prevent the development and transmissions of communicable diseases
and infections; also provides safety/health teaching to
Residents.These services are consistent with the Home's standards
and philosophy and are in compliance with all regulations, codes,
policies and procedures that govern the facility.JOB STANDARDS:
- A Registered Nurse license in good standing to practice in
Pennsylvania
- Knowledge of Federal, State and local codes and regulations
governing long term care facilities and base knowledge of community
resources to gather information applicable to job objectives
- Must be certified from the CDC for Infection
Preventionist.
- Knowledge of infectious disease, universal precautions, and
aseptic techniques; specialized training in infection prevention
and control.
- Training experience in areas required in long-term care
settings (HIPAA, Corporate Compliance, Abuse and Neglect, Resident
Rights and Dementia, Blood Borne pathogens, Isolation Precautions,
etc.).
- Computer skills: experience in Point Click Care and Relias
required
- Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating leadership qualities
especially integrity, initiative, sound judgment, and dependability
creating congeniality and collaboration while enhancing staff
growth
- Ability to evaluate the skills of professional and
non-professional staff and provide in-services to enhance their
professional and technical competency
- Effectively deal with stress created by Residents' illnesses,
disabilities and the aging process, organizational change, and
working cooperatively as part of the health care team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
languageJOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Maintain confidentiality of all residents, departmental, and
organizational information. Demonstrate behavior that indicates
recognition of Resident rights.
- Function as the charge nurse from time to time depending upon
the needs of the Home
- Work effectively and cooperatively as a team member within
department and with all departments and other disciplines.The Staff
Development Coordinator:
- Collaborate with department supervisors in developing
in-service programs
- Plan, coordinate and conduct regular and special in-service
training programs for staff collaborating with the Director of
Nursing to familiarize them with new procedures, policies or
changes in resident care techniques and equipment; prepare lesson
plans, evaluation, follow-up and record attendance for all
in-services
- Track and schedule CPR/AED trainings
- Plan, implement and evaluate educational programs (new hire
orientation and annual mandatories) for all departments,
collaborating with the Nursing Home Administrator, Human Resources
Director and Director of Nursing regarding topics and methods of
instruction (in-person, videos, computer).
- Perform new hire and annual Clinical Competencies for Licensed
Nurse and Certified Nurse Assistants based on specific Resident's
needs and equipment utilization and Facility Assessment.Infection
Control Nurse:
- Oversee infection prevention and control practices between all
departments (includes universal precautions and in-service programs
as required by CMS, Pa DOH and PDPH).
- Compile clinical data and actively assist in research studies
related to infection prevention and control. Prepare and present
monthly summaries of all Resident infections, and quarterly report
data to the assessment and assurance committees (QAPI)
- Collaborate with the Nursing Home Administrator, Director of
Nursing and Director of Human Resources to develop, implement, and
maintain an effective orientation program for new employees focused
on infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
- Monitor infection prevention and control practices and
procedures to ensure that all personnel are implementing
appropriate procedures
- Knowledge of data submission to Pa-PSRS, PA-NEDSS, PA DOH and
PDPH
- Review annually, or more frequently as needed, the job- related
tasks for all staff to ensure that tasks involving exposure to
blood/body fluids are properly identified. WORK
SETTING/ENVIRONMENT:This employee will perform work primarily
indoors and may attend meetings/seminars outside of the facility or
may participate in outdoor activities of the Home. The work
environment is well-lighted, clean and suitable to tasks performed
by the employee within temperature control standards that govern a
skilled care facility.EQUIPMENT OPERATED:This employee will be
expected to operate a variety of equipment essential for performing
duties of a medical nature relating to resident care.PHYSICAL AND
COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform simple motor skills such as standing, walking, sitting,
etc., and difficult manipulative skills such as, equipment
calibration, climb stairs, squat, kneel, twist, sit, bend, and
reach from floor to overhead
- Perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as
injections
- Remember simple and multiple tasks and assignments given to
self and others ranging from short to long periods of time, and to
concentrate on moderate to fine detail with interruption attending
to tasks/functions for more than 60 minutes at a time
- Push occupied medical carts and wheelchairs with weight
capacity more than 200lbs
- Hear and interpret heart and lung sounds
- Ability to understand theories behind several related concepts,
comprehend, remember and follow multiple task/directions over long
periods of time
- Emotional stability to deal effectively with stress created by
Residents' illnesses, disabilities and the aging process,
organizational change
- Have sufficient vision and color discrimination to observe a
Residents' condition and all documentation associated with a
nursing position.
- Hear verbal instructions, answer telephone and call lights,
respond to emergency signals/alarms and communicate effectively
with Residents and others
- Understand theories behind related concepts, comprehend,
remember and follow multiple instructions/directions given to self
and others, frequently amidst noise and interruption while
concentrating on fine detail and tasksEMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITY IN AN
EMERGENCY:The employee is expected to respond to emergency
situations involving the safety of Residents, other employees, and
the facility. This includes the ability to assist with a possible
